At Winyates Opticians we offer a free NHS approved Minor Eye Condition Service (MECS) for patients of all ages at our Redditch practice. This service is designed for individuals experiencing new or sudden minor eye problems.
Our accredited optometrists are specially trained to assess and treat minor eye conditions, meaning you don’t need to visit your GP or hospital for these issues.
What conditions can be treated with MECS ?
MECS covers a range of minor eye conditions including:

- Watery eye or excessive discharge
- Dry, gritty or uncomfortable eyes

How can I book a MECS appointment ?
To make an appointment, contact our practice on 01527 529010. Our team will ask a few questions about your symptoms to assess how urgently you need to be seen. Urgent cases are seen within 24 hours, while routine cases are scheduled within a few days.
If you wear glasses please bring these with you. If you are taking any medication please have a list ready for the optometrist to view.
